Before I start my blog this week I would like to share this photo with you.

It is simply good. 良い.

So let's get this straight. A Flügel is a wing in German. You can buy Hänchenflügel in the supermarket (chicken wings), and buy a Flügel at a Bechstein showroom. A grand piano has a lid which opens up like a wing, right? ........

So in Germany we talk about a Klavier (upright piano) and a Flügel (grand piano).

So......do you think this really is Boris' real name?......I wonder.....In any event, I had to photograph this car the other day.....ć“ć®å†™ēœŸć‚’꒮悉恭恰ćŖ悉ćŖć‹ć£ćŸ šŸ˜‚

Colour : 色 : In a month like February I am always looking for it. The Skyline Plaza in Frankfurt has some nice clean lines...2ęœˆćÆć„ć¤ć‚‚č‰²ć‚’ęŽ¢ć™........

and also, thankfully, some colour. Why don't architects realize that we need colour? č‰²ćŒé‡č¦

Not much colour in the woods these days....a few Wildschwein.....(ć‚¤ćƒŽć‚·ć‚·!)

but wait......haha!....the're not real are they ćć‚Œć‚‰ćÆęœ¬ē‰©ć§ćŖ恄 😁?

I'm on my bike again, and a solid-looking sign informs me how far it is to here and there.....

But...oho!....what is this? I have to get off my bicycle and wait for these merry characters to pass by...å¹ø恛ćŖäŗŗ怅ā˜ŗ

Yes, it's Fasching, (carnival) and this lot are all off to join the Fastnachszug in Egelsbach.....

Well, they certainly add some colour to the scene...ć„ćć¤ć‹ć®č‰² šŸ˜…

There was more to discover in Germany this week. Not only blue jackets, red boots and short skirts (must be chilly!), but monsters.....ćƒ¢ćƒ³ć‚¹ć‚æćƒ¼

Yes, a Gruffalo.....a monster who first appeared in a book by Julia Donaldson about 20 years ago........with drawings by Axel Scheffler.....This picture is from The Snail and the Whale, but The Gruffalo is a better story I think......

I'm sure the author never expected her characters to appear in the Baden Württenberg forest.....but appear they do...and some are hard to get to......especially this squirrel.....ćƒŖć‚¹ćŒē¬‘ć£ć¦ć‚‹ćØę€ć†.....šŸ˜‚

...whilst others need company....ćŸć¶ć‚“ę¢ŸćÆć•ć³ć—šŸ˜Æ

Look up the plot here....it's hilarious šŸ˜… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gruffalo

And all this on the outskirts of the pretty little town of Weinheim, just over the Hessen border.......

...........where we see, surprise, surprise....more castles...😁...really, medieval Germany seems to have needed a lot of them. The one in the background is called Windeck, (windy corner) not surprisingly, as it is on a windy corner of a hill.....é¢ØćŒå¼·ć„ć‚³ćƒ¼ćƒŠćƒ¼

And it really was a windy day for a hike. If only they could arrange the sunny days to coincide with the weekends...(but at least it didn't rain šŸ˜‰)..........here is our merry band....the gruffalo is wondering who to eat.....ć©ć‚Œé£Ÿć¹ć‚ˆć†ć‹ćŖ 🤣?

If medieval Germany needed lots of castles, today's Germany needs lots of cafĆ©s which serve Kaffee and Kuchen (coffee and cake ć‚³ćƒ¼ćƒ’ćƒ¼ćØć‚±ćƒ¼ć‚) šŸ°. Luckily we found one after our hike, which fortified us for the drive back to Hessen..šŸš—

Feel free to share it with friends if you like. ć‚ˆć‚ć—ć‘ć‚Œć°ć€ćƒŖćƒ³ć‚Æć‚’å‹é”ćØå…±ęœ‰ć—ć¦ćć ć•ć„šŸ˜Š

I send out the blog pretty randomly to whoever I think might be interested. Either by email, LINE or WHATSAPP. If you don't want to be sent this blog, don't hesitate to tell me and I shall take you off the list. No problem.

Here's one more flash of colour for today:

Meiko-chan čŠ½č”£åć”ć‚ƒć‚“. The Kanji characters for her name have been carefully chosen and the calligraphy beautifully drawn.

THE END
